What is a Superyacht?
Nobody has clearly defined what a superyacht is.It is generally believed that yachts which begin at 45 -50 meters LOA can be considered as superyachts. In the early 20th century, with the advent of the first luxury yachts, this term was used. It was attributed to yachts that measured 24 meters LOA and above. But that no longer holds. Yachts got bigger and bigger and the size used for the definition changed. Mega yachts and superyachts are considered to be the same in most yachting circles or if not there is an overlap when defining them.
The size of Superyachts
Many now define the super yacht as being a yacht with a minimum LOA of 45 meters.(148’) Construction of super yachts that are smaller in size are more popular so they are more in demand and shipping companies oblige.These smaller superyachts have room for 10 to 12 guests and the same number of crew members. They have 4 decks: a lower deck, a main deck, an upper deck and a sun deck.The 21st century has seen larger superyachts. Super yachts of this size usually have everything bigger.
Custom and semi-custom Yachts
In the world of super yachts, the larger the boat the more likely it turns out to be a unique creation. In fact, the world’s largest superyachts are all custom-designed. They are the most expensive ships, costing millions of dollars. The smaller yachts have only few variations, but custom boats are built differently from other boats.They are built from scratch. The most famous luxury yacht manufacturers construct either full custom or semi-custom yachts. They have large manufacturing facilities. These include dry dock sheds, temperature controlled construction and direct access to the ocean to enable trials by sea and facilitate launching. In Europe, the most famous of these shipbuilders are in Germany, The Netherlands and Italy. Turkey and the Middle East also have a tradition of ship building.
The travelers will have the best experience traveling on a yacht. The disadvantage of traveling on a yacht is that it’s really expensive and some people cannot afford it. But for these purpose shipbuilders started constructing semi yacht, they are less expensive and offer basic facilities. Not all people can afford but few can be able to enjoy their best experience in traveling yacht at a low price.
